Whether you’re doing Grade 8 or not, this piece is an absolute GEM of Mozart’s, and it’s worth knowing how to prepare it with joy and attention to detail!

This 60 minute online workshop will include:

• Understanding the background of the work
• Discussing aspects of style and why it’s a “Turkish” rondo
• How to embrace its mischief and theatrical nature
• How to practise effectively and use specific practice techniques
• Questions of articulation
• How to manage the octave passages
• Issues of velocity in semiquaver passages
• Managing the passages of thirds
• Communicating character.

You do NOT need to play in front of others in this workshop, and you do not need to have learnt it (although some basic knowledge of the piece might be helpful). We will definitely have fun and be creative, too!

You will join a private Facebook group for a seven day challenge based on daily Facebook lives with Joanna García, with fun, thoughtfulness, reflection, understanding, and action points to stimulate growth and self-awareness.

🎹 Who’s it for? Pianists from around Grade 2 right up to diploma level — and don’t worry, you won’t have to play in front of anyone during the workshop!

Aimed at ADULT pianists (Grade 5 to Advanced), this mini course of three group lessons (maximum 3 participants) will look at the background and interpretation of the first movement of Beethoven’s “Moonlight” Sonata. We will explore practice techniques and technical issues, too.

Dates: Wednesday 26th April and 3rd and 10th May at 10am (60 mins).

The course fee is non-refundable, but recordings of the lessons will be available to be shared for course attendees only.

Please note that you should have a reasonable working knowledge of the first movement prior to the start of the course.
